Inspiration #1

today was an amazing day in Vancouver

Fall in the most pretty way : a little warm, sunny, colorful and quiet

based on my walk around Granville Island and Kitsilano

I am inspired to start at least two new projects ~ smile

the first is a scarf in cool shades of crispy light colors

reflecting the pretty surroundings I met today

with 100% silk yarn from this Silk Weaving Studio on Granville Island ~ I simply couldn't resist

where I found this rainbow colored scarf in the most simple but yet effective knitting pattern

I might use that pattern for my scarf, or entrelac again, or this amazing crochet pattern at Vanessa's

but for now I am perfectly happy just looking at these pretty skeins

how I wish you could feel the softness too...

more inspiration in the next post, beware of a bright and colorful yarn scheme!

Vancouver

and just like that

I find myself in Vancouver this week!

I am very happy to be here again after eight years, good memories are all coming back to my mind

I love Vancouver

the feel, the views, the food, the people, the water, Stanley Park, the North...

also, my new stripey blanket is coming along really nice ~ if I may say so

and it enjoys the 24th floor view with me

I am off to add a few more rows to the blanket

good night pretty city

we will meet again tomorrow in sunshine for some wonderful walks and picture time

~ welcome to the new followers and thank you all for the sweet comments on the previous post! ~

Placemats reveal

another homemade gift for a dear friend

I created the placemats in the Netherlands, just like these ones you might remember

all six of them colorful and bright

though I still have to learn how to make those corners nice and even

another sewing class might work for me

and guess what... I got myself into quilting class, starting this Thursday!

more about that later this week

~ happy me quilting in Canada ~

Knitting again

west of Toronto you will find Oakville

a sweet place with a very sweet wool shop

only pure materials, mostly from Peru

silk, alpaca, cotton, merino, sheep wool and many more natural yarns

in the most amazing color ranges

if you are in the neighbourhood you should definately go out there and visit this lovely shop

I couldn't resist the blue-grey and red skeins on the right

Saskia, the friendly lady who owns the shop, winded these balls of yarn for me

and so it happens that, after a lot of crochet, for a change I am knitting again

and I love it

~ enjoy the sunny weekend! ~

Inspiration

thank you for your sweet comments on our new home

that huge window is indeed our new window ~ lucky us

today I am sharing my new Toronto inspiration with you

the design on the left is from GAN and I love it

especially this alexandra rug by Sandra Figuerola, the colors and the pattern... oh my

and the cake on the right of course looks too pretty and delicate to eat

on the left an early last century tin ceiling, typical Northern American, I had never seen before

and they are so pretty, in design but also in reflecting the light

read more here about the tin ceilings if you are interested in these European-inspired creations

and under this particular ceiling, they serve delicious caffe latte ~ smile

being a Dutch girl, bycicles make me feel like home

and this stylish graffiti bike happens to match my newest creJJtion somewhat

made from socks wool with a dark blue border

and number two already in my purse, for a little progress anytime

to be joined into one large blanket when finished

ooooh how I love matching these colors with everything pretty that crosses my eyes...

Home Decorating

we were lucky to find a very comforting pretty home in Canada

and we are moving in two weeks from now

hello sunshine in my new garden

matching my new thriftstore English china

happy home decorating now

color arrangement in the kitchen and living room on the left; matching last night's dessert on the right

bedroom colors go very well with wool bits from another thriftstore

plenty of ideas, the husband and I can't wait to move in!

~ happy Labour Day weekend for all who are celebrating ~

One year celebration

and there it was: August 29

the day creJJtion was celebrating it's first year out on the world wide web

this year has been a creative and happy adventure for me

the good news is it ain't over yet

~ smile ~

and of course it would have been a totally different experience without you

the sweet comments and e-mails I read with pleasure every day

it is hard to find a proper way to say thank you for doing that

but a little treat is the least I can give you

therefore, with the finishing of the Dutch- Canadian blanket ~ a celebration itself

I decided to write out the full granny pattern, including the joining method and the edging,

as well as the full color- layout and some tips
