a new blanket request for a baby boy arrived in my mailbox and I love it. but, as you know by now I love custom requests. honestly, this one is from a special friend and I am honored to be given the chance to make a blanket for her future baby boy. inspiration comes from here on the beautiful and never disappointing Purl Bee blog. a sample was quickly knit and decisions for the colors were easily made. my furry photography assistant and I had a little fun out on the deck in the snow, taking pictures of the progress.
the blanket will consist of 5 stripes, each 80 cm wide and 20 cm high, to make for a rather large 80x100 cm blanket. made of Catania cotton for a Spring baby boy, with colors ranging from deep navy blue to creamy white. double stranded, this knits of so thick and comfy! and it allows me to make up my own melee yarn, in the colors both the future mom and I love. I don't know why I never came up with the idea before of knitting with Catania this way before, as it is pure joy to knit with it in double strands. as I am typing, I wonder; have you ever crocheted with double strands? I would love to read about your experiences.

Wonderful that Floyd can be so helpful..maybe he thinks this lovely blanket will be for him❤
ReplyDeleteLooks like it's going to be a beautiful blanket. I love the two strand effect and how it makes the colour changes so subtle. I've crocheted with 2 strands before, it's not as bad as you might think, they 'stick' to each other reasonably well. You just have to take a tiny bit extra care, a little like when you crochet with a bit of a 'splity' yarn, it you know what I mean?

Love the color combination. Lovely puppy you have. :)
ReplyDeleteLooking beautiful,,, what a lovely gift.
ReplyDeleteANother lovely project of yours. Love the classy colours. I've done some crochet with two strands of yarn at once before. It is quite easy actually. I really need to learn the knitting. I want to so badly but time... Where is the time for this??? This baby blanket will become one of my favorites. I can see that already. Plus a knitted blanket tend to be softer and more cuddly than a crochet blanket... It has abetter fall, so to say. you get what I mean? Thanks for loving my Gypsy Blanket. Publishing that post gives me a kick in my xxxxx to finish it off. Fingers crossed that I won't get distracted by other ideas. Just saw that beautiful baby mobile over at Emma Lamb. It is to die for and a friend of mine is having a baby any day now... Maybe I will give that a go.

É fácil trabalhar com 2 fios e faz umas riscas mais "suaves". Fiz algumas peças com fio duplo para oferecer no Natal: gorros, cachecóis e adorei o resultado. Espreita no meu blog.
