there it is, my first ever doily that was never supposed to exist, haha. I found this vintage magazine full of doily patterns at the thrift store and when I needed a gift for a special someone, I decided to give it a go. I did not use the right thin cotton thread that is normally used for doilies. With regular catania cotton this doily turned out rather large but not overly big and I prefer it this way.
all the flowers were done individually, so there were quite a bit of annoying ends to weave in, but other than that I must admit it was pure joy to make this thing in only a few hours. it requires close attention so it's not a 'in from of the tv' project for me, but I sure did have a great time making it.
as a result, I couldn't hold myself back at the yarn store the other day and got some finer thread. still not the typical doily yarn, but catania fine and hook size 2.25 mm. now let's see where that takes me...
for doily inspiration and patterns, try American Thread Co on google, or vintage doily pattern. there are quite numerous patterns available on Ravelry too. have some doily fun!
