Yellow Mood

temperatures are rising in Toronto this week, and I try to get my share of sunlight through these pictures of my newest crochet project. it all started with the poster by Sycamore Street Press that I found at The Paper Place. there are gray skies printed behind the text 'you make me happy when skies are gray' but I realize it's hard to see them in the pictures. I plan to hang this poster in our bedroom and slightly decorate the room according to the white-yellow-gray color scheme. starting with a cushion cover, crocheted in bright yellow shades made by combining double threads of Catania yarn. the light gray polka-dot fabric will be the backing of the cushion. a few more ends to weave in and I am ready to hand sew the crochet front to the fabric cover. I don't know how it happened, but all of a sudden I am quite into yellow. must be the sunny Spring time!

  1. Love that cushion pattern, the plus sign shape is very striking! Beautiful colours as well :) Did you crochet them in sections and join or have you gone straight across back and forth changing colours? ~Stephanie

  3. Those yellows look wonderful with the soft grey and white! I especially love the sunshine yellow and even the dandelion on the grey textured slabs matches your latest work in progress! I like the words written in yellow on the white paper, I think they're from the song: "You are my sunshine, my only sunshine, you make me happy when skies are grey" I love it! What a lovely table outside you have to work on. Very inspirational! How wonderful to have a garden in the big city of Toronto! My son lives in this city!

    1. Hi Sandra, yes, I believe it is that song indeed. We live just outside of Toronto, that helps in getting that back yard :). How fun your son lives close by! x

  4. I have always loved yellow and yellow and grey have always been one of my favorites. I have been working on my craft room since February using those colors... S I'm going very, very slow . I made a quiet cute cushion and its the focal point of my room. I just love those two colors together and your cushion cover looks bright and sunny. Pure bliss :)

  8. Nice new design coming on. Yellow is nice and it is a color I am missing right now as the sun is hiding like forever. Very refreshing. Do you cut your yarn as you change colors or are you dragging all balls around with strings attached to your WiP? That might be kind of difficult...

    Groetjes Corine
