A Day in the City

what a beautiful and relaxing day we had yesterday

we walked around the streets in the Chicago Wicker Park neighborhood

enjoyed a delicious coffee and lunch at Milk and Honey

haha, that's me enjoying a delicious latte, American size

the streets look lovely and so peaceful, and we spotted a very inspiring shop window

at the end of the day I made my way to Nina Chicago, one of my favorite yarn shops

it was great to meet Stephen West and get to know his work

very inspiring to hear how designing works for him: not so much drawing sketches, just start to knit

I took his West Knits Book One with me and planned to make at least one of his scarfs, probably this one

other than that, I was intrigued by a knitting technique I was not familiar with yet, the linen stitch

have you worked with it before? the end result looks woven, very pretty to my eyes

this google search gives an idea of what it looks like

the yarn on the left in the picture is what I planned for it

~

and the yarn on the right... it was on sale and I have such a crush on that aqua color

this happens to be a soft merino and cashmere blend

I have a lace triangle shawl in mind, with a light pink border

what do you think? any knit or crochet pattern suggestions?

  2. Mooi kleuren hoor!
