Material Obsession

as you probably figured out

I have a little material obsession ~ smile ~

my sweet colleagues back in the Netherlands got me this book as a good bye gift

it is a very pretty book with the most beautiful quilts by the Australian ladies Kathy Doughty and Sarah Fielke

and from the basis to high level quilting, they all explain it in this book with clear drawings

really, with this book there is absolutely no excuse for me not to start quilting right away

so when I visited a yardsale last week, I took this pile of Christmas fabrics with me

and now I have to wait a few weeks more until my sewing machine arrives from overseas

until then, I will crochet and knit a little, and eat a mini cupcake or two from the amazing Cupid's

it was a delicious but dangerous discovery we did today in Canada...

Mollie Makes

in the wonderful world of blogging I first saw the new magazine Mollie Makes

lately here for example, a pretty blog by the Australian mother and daughter team

in Amsterdam I could not find it, but in Toronto...

... I did find it!

and it is as pretty as I hoped it would be

I installed myself under a tree in a light sun today, with Mollie and some crochet

in this third issue you will find some cute crochet flower and butterfly patterns

as well as extraordinary but very pretty (wedding) bouquet ideas and how-to instructions

Mollie is packed with ideas that combine hand made and thriftstore found items ~ and I love it

it inspired me to add three more rows of squares to the Dutch/Canadian blanket

two more rows at the top to make it square shaped and ready for the edging,
for which I have several ideas in mind

any suggestions from your side on how to do the edging?

Toronto

downtown the amazing city of Toronto you get to see

the CN Tower and of course the typical North American streets, traffic lights and skyscrapers

just aside of that, on Queen Street West

you will find some older buidlings and friendly coffeeshops

R Squared Cafe for example

with a beautiful light interior right my style and absolutely delicious latte's and cookies

a perfect start of the day, together with some crochet

~ smile ~

by the way, this multicolored yarn 100% wool I found for only $ 0.79 at Michaels
to my European eyes an amazingly huge craftstore

oh happy Sunday

~ wishing you a happy new week ~

just in case you planned to visit Toronto or are interested in the city
at first glance blogTO is a pretty and clear blog that might come in handy
I will check their restaurants' page before I go there next time

in our favorite colors dark blue and creamy white

hmmm look at it, so chunky, soft and cozy! now very happy on my friends' couch

more about it and about the blue sky baby blanket on my finished crochet projects page

Baby Boy

our friend's baby boy was born last week

and the blanket is finished just in time

blue and blue it is

in all shades

I love how the combination of different stitches worked out

and how the edging is worked around in the same colors, but clustered on the short ends

blanket and us, having a great time visiting wonderful family members today

~ wishing you a blue-sky-new-week ~
