Last Week

last week felt like two weeks for the husband and me

our holiday has been so much fun so far...

we are camping and travelling by car

we make a trip along the East Coast of Canada, also known as the Maritime

our first stop was in Quebec city, then we went on to New Brunswick where we enjoyed the sunny lake side

and on to Prince Edward Island, PEI

with it's delicious seafood, beautiful light houses and friendly people

we enjoy eating outside

I love the lobster fishing crates

and Chateau Frontenac in Quebec City, now a hotel, is beautiful

the antique shops on PEI are just gorgeous, inside as well as outside

top right is Quebec countryside

below right is a small street in Quebec that reminded me a lot of Europe

~

clearly I take a lot more pictures with our dslr camera these days,

so be aware of much more of all of this in a few weeks

including pictures of the beautiful Anne of Green Gables site and...

the numerous yarn shops and yarn mini mill we visited on PEI

wishing you a lovely new week

Crochet en route

a little update of my crochet activities during our travels

trying to design a market bag for baby's mom, to go with the girly blanket

as I can reveal now...

the baby girl is our new niece! she was born a few days ago, named Zoey

and of course very pretty, cute and sweet

we are all very happy with and proud of our new family member!

the market bag is based on a pattern from one of the Japanese books I recently bought

but finished in a totally different way,

as the Catania yarn I am using is much thinner compared to what the book suggested

still work in progress...

wishing you a lovely weekend!

Camping

camping life is good on us these days

sunshine and wonderful temperatures

we enjoy our slow life outside

with handmade latte's and a lovely guitar song from a neighbor camper in the background

thank you all so dearly for the wonderful comments on the new blanket in the making

I am weaving in some ends here and there

if I am not exploring beautiful barns ~ smile

Last Week

last week was a colorful and happy one

we had some rainy days and I had breakfast by candle light

I found these lovely hangers with flowers and cute cupcake liners

working on a gift to go with the girly blanket, still trying to figure it out

my happy package from Japan arrived

lately I ordered crochet and sewing books from Megumi from the beautiful Etsy shop Pomadour24

her ship is packed with pretty books, I had such a hard time making my selection

but I did, they are here now, and I loooove them; the colors, the projects, the pictures... all equally pretty

if you are looking for Japanese craft books, I can highly recommend Megumi's shop Pomadour24

last weekend we left for our camping holiday

we plan to travel around the East Coast provinces of Canada

and we started in Quebec City

the weather is gorgeous and we enjoy ourselves very well here

~

for the duration of our holiday I put the crochet kits on hold in the creJJtion Etsy shop

the patterns however, are still available for you!

for now au revoir et bonne semaine

Girly Girl Blanket

a new blanket in the making

I am working on it every day with love

to be able to finish it soon

there are two things totally new to this design

well, new to me that is

one is the mixed color yarn I never used before in my designs

second are the bobbles on this girly blanket

I love them so much!

to make them, to touch them, all pure joy and fun

they make me smile

all coming together nicely

for a very special girl that is very soon to be born

to say I enjoy working on this blanket

especially in our garden in the warm and friendly August sun

is just a big understatement

Happy Outside

some Summer happiness

outside

with blue skies and warm sun beams ~ unlike the grey day today

random pictures from close by and helicopters spreading the love in New York

my favorite spot at Lake Ontario

making collages outside is the best

and Toronto by sundown is just amazing...

happy days!

Last Week

although last week ended with a few days of rain

we sure did have another lovely week of Summer

Lake Ontartio looked like a sea, don't you think?

amazing color for a bike by the way

dear friends got us a bag of peaches from the farm

my parent's had a lovely long weekend in Germany and send me this picture of the Grimm Museum staircase

because I did not take too many pictures with my phone last week,

I accidentally included my breakfast twice in a collage, it was delicious though, haha

my parcel from Purl Soho

matching a desk I painted for the third and last time, I'll talk about that in a few weeks

and on a pink note:

I started a super girly baby blanket with little dots on it and love how they pop out!

my outfit was matching the project ~ smile

a lot of vintage sheets and my sewing machine cooperated for a special project in the basement

the book I longed to have for a long time arrived in the mail and it is sooo beautiful

~

the blanket and the basement vintage sheet project will be subject of this week's posts

have a great new week

New York Part II

Purl Soho, known for its beautiful shop in NY and the pretty blog Purl Bee

I have been there once before, last Fall season

but I would go there every week if I could and I'll try to explain why

Purl Soho is the only shop I know that carries fabric, yarn and all imaginable tools to work with them

of high quality materials and makes, and in a reasonable sized shop ~ not too large, not too small

literally everything they have is arranged and organized in a beautiful rainbow of colors

and they showcase the most beautiful projects that show a how-to on their blog Purl Bee

don't you just love all the display of beautiful materials?

the only personal problem I have in this store

is that I go blank when I see all these beautiful materials, so perfectly organized

saying 'Maaike, you want to take ME home with you'

so after wandering around for 45 minutes, I decided to pick a Fall oriented set of different materials

that match in color but vary in structure and type

I like a challenge, you know haha

wool yarn, felt, Liberty and red fabric, red thread and gingham bias tape

without a specific project in mind yet

I am looking at this set every day, dreaming of NY and Purl Soho

and that's enough for now

although, suggestions are always welcome!

~

bye for now beautiful Purl, hope to see you again

and a very happy weekend to you my dear readers
